About us
A landscaping practice in Alpedrinha that builds ponds and natural swimming pools for Mediterranean climates, and grows the aquatic plants that make them work.
Refúgio Botânico started as an aquatic plant nursery in 2014. It has grown into aquatic landscape design and the construction of natural swimming pools, with projects and consultations across Portugal.
The practice was founded by Martien den Haan and Sabrina Martins. The work stays ecological and chemical-free: biological filtration, hand-drawn design, and thoughtful planting adapted to the local ecology.

Sabrina Martins
A degree in Decorative Painting from IPEDEC in Paris. She draws the designs that the projects are built from.
