What we do

Refúgio Botânico creates high-quality, clean, 100% chemical free ponds and natural swimming pools, using a variety of techniques that are all based on the principles of natural filtration to ensure year-round water quality. We combine mechanical and biological filtration to recreate a functioning, healthy aquatic ecosystem in the space of your own garden. Aquatic plants and microorganisms work together in constructed wetlands or external filters, using technology to bring out their best ability to create crystal clear, sparkling ponds and pools.

The price for a natural pool depends on its size and the required filtration system. The filtration system determines the desired water quality. The level of automation, which decreases manual maintenance, also plays an important role: efficient water circulation that gets rid of debris settling on the bottom, skimmers that clear away falling tree leaves and other floating particles, automated top-off that compensates for water loss due to evaporation, and efficient landscaping of the surrounding area are all major techniques in keeping a pond clean without spending time doing it yourself. Lastly, availability and transport of building materials set the price. As an indication, prices are around 1200€/m2 including IVA for a standard sized 75m2 natural swimming pond. Above 100m2, prices per m2 drop. Prices for a natural ecosystem pond range between 120€ and 245€ per m2.
