About us
Refúgio Botânico is a landscaping company that specializes in the construction of ponds and natural swimming pools suited to Mediterranean climates. As a nursery, it also grows a large variety of aquatic plants. The company is located in Alpedrinha, Central Portugal and was founded in 2014 by Martien den Haan and Sabrina Martins.
Refúgio Botânico started as an aquatic plant nursery in 2014. The company has since been growing out steadily into the areas of aquatic landscape design and construction of high-quality natural swimming pools, realizing projects and doing consultations all over Portugal. Refúgio Botânico is an initiative by Martien den Haan and Sabrina Martins.
Martien holds degrees in Aquatic Ecology at the Universities of HZ Vlissingen in the Netherlands and the university of Sophia Antipolis in Nice, France.
Sabrina holds a degree in Decorative Painting at Higher Institute of Decorative Painting, IPEDEC, in Paris. As an artist she provides all of our designs, all of wich are hand drawn and are at the basis of our projects.
